Design and development of composite structures is a core competancy of Formtech.  Drawing on experience from the automotive, motorsports and aerospace, Formtech is uniquely placed to provide full design and development services to clients.

Formtech specialist testing services also include experience in manufacture of springs for Formula One.  Torsion bars require stress analysis to size spring rates and stress peaks and subsequent pre-stressing during manufacture.

The Blended Wing UAV Concept follows on from Formtech's work with the HALE UAV of Qinetiq and in-house stress analysis of conventional airframes.  The concept draws together ideas from the development of Formula One rear wing structures and promises to deliver a robust product at reasonable cost levels.
