European Spallation Source – Sweden – BIFROST Pulse Shaping Chopper Disks

Since 2018, Formtech Composites develops together with ESS the ultimate high speed chopper disk for applications where 14000rpm are required to shape the neutron beam to the required properties which leads on the outer diameter to a speed of close to Mach 2. The development work included Design, Finite Elements Analysis and Prototype manufacturing with neutron absorbing layers in the disk.
